This is going to sound a little obsessive

October 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So I took two pictures last night. Just two. Which is odd because normally I take between like 60-100. The two I took? Pru. I apparently have become quite obsessed with our lil Petr Prucha.

001

002

He is consistently one of the best players on the ice for the Coyotes. He is all over the place. He hits, he takes hits. He shoots the puck, he goes to the front of the net. He digs in corners. He sees the ice really well. *sigh* Petr Prucha, I think I love you but I wanna know for sure….  :P

We both know if we talk anymore We’re gonna end up in a great big fight

October 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Wow, tonight was crazy.

And I am talking literally crazy. SignGurl and I sat on the glass near the Coyotes penalty box and thankfully next to a security guard. We needed him several times.

So first a fight breaks out on the ice. We are getting all into it and then all hells seems to break loose in the crowd around us.

fight for blog

Yes, so that dude climbed up on the boards and was shaking the glass like mad. I had to take a step back because I thought he was going to fall off and land on me. Then some other Bruins fan came running down the stairs and was swearing at him and trying to fight him. Thankfully the security guy next to us was over there, trying to pull the guy down. The dude didn’t believe that he was a security guard. Dumb. There were like 5 security guards there to escort the two guys out.

Then a little while later some dudes almost go into another fight in our section, both were Bruins fans. All I heard was “Sit down fatty”. The woman behind me explained what happened. The two guys were apparently yelling at each other (she didn’t know what about) and the one said “Why don’t you come over here?” So the other dude gets up and starts going over there so the first dude then starts yelling “Sit down fatty”  Ok so explain why you tell someone to come over to fight and then when they actually do, you tell them to go sit down? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

Then at the end of the game, security guy sprang to our rescue once more. This girl (in a Lucic jersey)  comes down to talk to the girls that were with the dude that got kicked out. So then when she turns to leave, she dumps her beer on the woman behind me. So the woman gets pissed. If that beer had been dumped on me, I would have went off too. Of course then some yelling and stuff occurs and security dude goes after the beer dumper.

I might have missed a fight or two. There was a lot of activity going on in our section tonight. It was hard to keep up with the game and the fights in our section. The saying I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out was pretty much true today…

Aiight, so it sucks your team lost. But really? Do you need to try and fight someone? It was getting a little old. But needless to say, the coyotes won the game. 4-1.

It was amazing. The best part? With 20 seconds left the fans stand and start clapping. Wow. The fans we do have coming to the game are solid. Who wants a bunch of douche bag fans? I love my small but amazing fan base. And you know what? The fan base will come back. Moyes was a horrid owner and we were put through hell this summer. Of course some people are going to be hesitant, but once we get a real owner it will get better.

Anyway… I am done with the mini rant now.

3 of our 4 goals came from dmen. Jovo, Adrian and Yandle. The 4th goal was a Scottie goal. Yandle was so excited to get a goal. It was so cute. And Adrian. Awwwwww. Scottie showed the fans some love. haha We also got two of those goals on the PP. The PP was looking pretty good tonight. I was impressed. I was almost impressed with Jovo too. Almost.

The three stars were 3) Yandle 2) Scottie and 1) Doan. Yandle and Scottie wore the hats out. Scottie wore his backwards. Um, kind of glad I didn’t get one of those hats. Do you really want a hat that a sweaty hockey player just wore? Kind of gross. They just played 60 minutes with a helmet on. Ewl.

Tired. Going to go to bed soon. I can’t think of anything else about the game that stands out.

ACK!

What a game, what a game.

So we chilled in Doug Moss’ suite tonight. And we were probably the loudest in the crowd.

The nicknames that Yotesgurl and I have come up with are catching on.

We also were the fans that started the “goal” chant when Jovo scored in OT.

I was such a girl at this game. When the puck and Bryz were flopping around, I was screaming. Such a girl. *shakes head*

Worst Player of the game: Yandle. Yah, he pretty much handed the Blues a goal. And Bryz? We’ve talked about this before… if Yandle or Jovo is anywhere near your net, you protect it. k? k.

My brain is barely functioning right now. And since I do have to work tomorrow, I shall be trying to sleep soon here.

Best Player of the game was this guy right here:

006

I love him soooooo much. Pruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Every time he hits the ice I say “Pruuuuuuu”.

I am also really amused at the fact that Uppy joined twitter. I hope he tweets about his goal. LMAO. I kid, I kid.

Um, this is all I got for this game. My throat hurts and I need to get some sleep. Since I have to work tomorrow, I won’t have the time. I have a personal trainer appointment after work and then I need to go to Fresh and Easy to get stuff for the tailgate Saturday. Just warning you royal readers that I won’t update for a few days. :)

Oh and this boy:

taylor

is finally back! Yay! (This pic was taken by Yotesgurl… I didn’t have a great one of him). I heart him.

I will never be like those other guys, I will never be your unemployed boyfriend

October 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Someone asked on Twitter where all the Bryz haters are now. I don’t think the answer is quite so simple as to respond to on Twitter so I will do my best to explain with an analogy…

I don’t hate Bryz. Am I bitter with his performance the last couple of seasons? Do I think he could have done better? Yes to both of those. But lets go back in time here for a second.

When we first acquired Bryz, he played very well the first few games. Then it was down hill from there (he has had his moments, but mostly downhill) and now he has played quite stellar these last few games. Am I gonna jump on the Bryz bandwagon? Am I going to start singing his praises from the roof tops? Not yet. Let me explain.

Bryz is like an ex-boyfriend come back and wanting to date you again. He’s said he’s changed but you are not so sure. You need some time to think about it and observe and see if he really has changed.

You started dating him a few years ago when he moved here from Anaheim. He seemed like a good guy and that he had his shit together. Then he met this guy (in this case Fuhr) and he wasn’t such a great influence on your man. So you break up with him because you just can’t trust him 100%.

Now fast forward a few years and the friend has moved away and your boy starts turning his life around. He comes back and says he wants to be with you again. You aren’t so sure. So you tell him you just want to be friends and see where that leads. So he goes balls to the wall to show you he has changed and win you back. Can he keep it up? Can you just forget the past so quickly? Can you just forgive how badly he treated you in the past? It’s hard to say at this point in the season. I need more time. I need to see if he is for real or not. I need to make sure there isn’t an implosion.

I’m not going to jump on the Bryz bandwagon. I’m not going to just assume he has changed.

A girl’s got to be careful which goalies she gives her heart to. Can’t get it broken too many times. :)

Hey Joe!

October 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Last night’s game summary as brought to you by our very own Yotesgurl. She was gracious enough to write this up for me since I was watching the game and working on homework yesterday. Expect to see a bit more of her this season. So without further ado….

Welcome fans to this opening battle between these great rivals.  It’s a six round bout and this opening round will set the tone for the series this year.

Starting off in the teal corner, the Sharks decided to have Heatley and Thornton determine their fate in this game.  They are 12′8 and a combined 456 lbs.  Last year they had a combined 64 goals and 94 assists last year.

Coming from the red corner, we have Martin Hanzal being sent into trade blows with the dynamic duo.  Taking on one of the most talented duos in all of the NHL will be a daunting task, especially with them coming in with a crazy 10 points combined in their last two home games.

Period 1:  The teams started off pushing hard up and down the ice.  The teams seemed very evenly matched, however the Coyotes may have had a paranormal helper because Vlasic fell down with the puck when no one was near him.  Pushed over by a ghost?  It didn’t take long for the former President’s Cup winners to become frustrated by the Coyotes tight defense.  Whoa!  Crushing blowon McGinn by… Upshall?  Uppy, how many 5 hr energys did you take before the game?  Both teams kept it pretty disciplined, each taking only one penalty.  Both PP’s took a swing and missed.  There weren’t many decent scoring chances throughout the period and the goalies were perfect.

Period 2:  Frustration is setting more intensely for the top line for San Jose. I think Thornton put in a call for a goon hit.  Four minutes into the period, Jody Shelley puts a big hit on Z and at the other end of the ice, after the play was blown dead, Shelley crosschecked Hanzal in the back, knocking to the ice, which he was slow getting up from.  This didn’t sit well with the Yotes and Bisonnette took on a noticeably bigger Shelley.  The fight wasn’t long and was mostly jabs before a non-graceful fall to the ice where Bisonnette was the winner.  The suffocating defense from the Coyotes continued and they started to get more prolonged pressure at the Sharks end.  Coyotes had two power plays but nada! Period ends still 0-0.

Period 3:  Prucha had a great scoring chance!  Pruuuuuuuuuuuuuu!  Alas, it was still 0-0.  Each team had a power play opportunity (Ryan Clowe ‘held the stick’ of Prucha, but can you blame him?), to no avail.  Coyotes defense and their inability to convert good scoring chances was once again the story.  Oooooooovertime.

OT:  Heatley had a good scoring chance (but it was his only shot of the game!).  The Sharks pressed Bryz and the crazy Russian said no goal for you!

Shootout:

Heatley:  Bryz already told you, no goal for you.  He wasn’t kidding.  SAVE!  BRYZ!

Vrbata:  Vrby couldn’t get the puck up like he wanted and he was denied.

Setoguchi:  Weakest effort ever.  Never allow him to be in the shootout.  Try aiming at the net next time.

Mueller:  Interesting attempt.  Pete did a leg kick fake that reminded me of Minnesota dancing.  Nebby was hyponotized and MUELLER SCORES!

Boyle:  Bryz went for the poke check.  Neg.  Boyle scores.  Booooooooo

Korpikoski:  First career shootout attempt.  Barely saw ice time during the game.  No pressure Lauri.  Seriously, what the heck was Tippett thinki…….OH MY GOD HE WON THE GAME!!!!  He flew up the ice and stole that second point from the Sharks.

Looking back:  Boedker has been getting less than ten minutes of ice time.  Will he stay with the team or go down to the AHL?  Lombardi was out with a groin injury and Sauer was out with headaches.  Can the Coyotes stay healthy?  Korpikoski didn’t play much, but when he does play, his speed is very noticeable.  Mueller is still wheeling all over the ice and Doan is doing all the little things that don’t show up on a boxscore.

The Decision:  Round 1 goes to the Coyotes.  Hanzal was a big part of that, helping keep Thornton/Heatley to 0 pts and limiting them to 5 SOG (Heatley 1, Thornton 5).  The offense and power play are still sketchy, but we have only allowed 2 even strength goals all year and Bryz has been solid.

Round 2:  SAT DEC 12, 2009  in Phoenix.  Hey Joe!  Look Out!  He’s gonna get you Joe!

In the hood, in L.A. they saying “50 you hot”

October 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I decided tonight that Fiddler is now Fiddy. Cuz you know.. he’s tough like Fifty Cent. hah!

Anyway… I was watching the game but not really watching the game tonight so I will not be writing my summary/thoughts. (I was doing homework since apparently I couldn’t get it done in my day off.)

Expect a guest writer to have a post up here. But don’t expect it anytime soon. The game is going into OT (tied 0-0) and both my guest writer and I have to work tomorrow and then I have class after work. So maybe late tomorrow evening?

Aiight, off to finish the game and the homework!

it’s the way you present yourself for all your worst critics to see

October 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Ok…. let’s do an entry on yesterday’s activities. I don’t want to but I know I have to. I need to write something about it!

The tailgate was a lot of fun. There was good food, good people and strong drinks. And tequila shots. Oh and jello shots.

The award for the best drink goes to the Sweet Tea Vodka in Lemonade. It was an alcoholic Arnold Palmer but it did not taste like alcohol. Close runner up was the jello shots. Strawberry jello made with strawberry rum. Very good choice brought by The Virg.

The best food goes the The Diva for her mix of squash, zucchini and onions done on the grill. Yum and so very healthy.

Best Sign goes to the guy and his daughter who were both dressed as chef’s and had this sign:

139

second runner up goes to YotesSignGurl for her “19 PIM? Marty Gone Wild” a close third runner ups was CanadaYotesFan and her “Scoring? Czech” sign. Again, so much play on words with the Czechs. Love it!

Best warmup moment: Catching Lombo giving someone the thumbs up.

082

Ok… well now to the game.

Award for the worse player on the ice: Jovo. But does that really surprise anyone? And the new guy Bissonette. Don’t like him at all. He can go back to Pittsburgh. He was almost more worthless than Jovo.

Coyote that really worked it: Petr Prucha. Those BJs were all over him but he kept pushing back. He does need to get a little stronger on his skates though. He was getting pushed around easily.

Best goal that wasn’t a goal but should have: Adrian Aucoin’s

Best fight that didn’t happen: Jovo. He looked like he was ready to kill the BJ. Stupid refs should have let him go at ‘em!

Best Scottie moment: There wasn’t one. He did not make the goalie play leapfrog. :(

Best Scottie picture:

127

Runner up Scottie Picture:

130

Overall, I was disappointed in the loss but I am not going to start freaking out. There were some guys who seemed like they really wanted it and others *cough Jovo cough* who looked like they could care less. I feel bad for those that worked there asses off last night. And the BJ’s goalie was on. That right glove hand? Yah, that was hard for us to beat. It also didn’t help that there were a few momentum loses. I think the thing that hurt the team/crowds morale the most was that goal that was taken back. Everyone was so excited we had finally tied it at 1 but the refs took it away. And you could see a big difference after that. There were also some questionable calls made on the Coyotes and some not made on the BJ’s. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I still have faith and I still believe Tippett will be a great coach for this organization.

I also have another theory… whenever the Flyers and Coyotes play on the same night, they do the same thing. If the Flyers win, the Coyotes win. If the Coyotes lose, the Flyers lose. Last night the Flyers lost and the Coyotes lost. Coincidence? I think not…

Next up, Coyotes at Sharks tomorrow night. We have always been a better team against the Sharks, I hope that keeps up. But then again….we were 5-0 for home openers but lost this season.

This should be an interesting season. It is time for the team and the fans to step it up. The fans can’t leave it to the players alone and the players can’t expect the fans to love them unconditionally (although some of us do but that’s not the point). We need to show the world that we are a hockey city. I know we have it in us. It is us against the world but we will prove them wrong.

Game on Indeed

October 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today is the tailgate and home opener for the Coyotes. As I only have a cute long-sleeve Yotes shirt, I went with the last free tshirt, which is too big but whateves. I’ll wear the white jersey at the game. I can’t wear the long sleeve shirt because it is supposed to be 90 degrees today. Ahhhhhhh, sun, warmth and hockey. What more could a girl ask for??

Anyway… here is what I look like for the game. I even did my hair and make up. haha

I’m really not that vain. I am just a photographer at heart, so I know the more pics you take the better chance you get one you like. I liked all of these. I took more but yah, the rest not so good!
I am sooooo excited for the festivities of the home opener.  There is definitely something in the air today!!

So Much for the Afterglow

October 8, 2009 · 1 Comment

Question of the day: Can the Coyotes go 4-0? I asked myself that this morning. I wanted them to win tonight but I really want a win at home, for the home opener/welcome back whiteout. It was 0-0 after the second and the game was getting dangerous.

So I turn on the game at work (radio feed) and I hear LaBarbera versus Miller. This makes me worried. Mr Barbie has yet to earn my respect and/or confidence. Actually, neither has Bryz but thats another post all together… I would much rather have Ryan Miller on my team. He is absolutely one of my favorite goalies.

I did offer Mr. Barbie hot dogs but then I took that back and offered him theyotesdiva and I think that was the much better offer for him. He wasn’t feeling the hot dogs like Bryz.

Marty racked up 19 minutes of PIMs in the second. All he was doing was defending Pru. There was a questionable hit on Pru and Marty came to his defense. And he gets 19 minutes and the other dude gets 5? That is not right. Marty got 2 for instigating, 2 for roughing, 5 for fighting and a 1o minute because of the instigating. What did you do to those refs Marty? All the while, Pru was laying on the ice trying to recover. He was able to skate off by himself but left the game and will not be returning. I hope its nothing to serious. We need you Pru!

The Coyotes finally scored early in the third on a PP, lead 1-0. Buffalo quickly ties it 1-1 and thankfully the goal canceled the delayed penalty on the Yotes.

Freaking A Refs. You know I dont like Scottie but 4 minutes? Seems a lil excessive when he had 4 Sabres going after him.

And thanks to the refs and their calls against the Yotes, we lose 2-1. I suppose this was pay back for all the penalties on the Pens last night. Gotta even it up huh? I am sad we lost but it isn’t as disappointing as years past. The boys played well and hard all three periods Also, all players contributed and played hard. That in and of it self is amazing. And you know… no one goes undefeated all season.

Coyotes are now 2-1. Whiteout on Saturday is SOLD OUT!!!!! I cannot freaking wait!

Aaaaaand Flyers lose 5-4 to the Pens. They go to 3-1. Not too shabby either. I turn on the radio broadcast and the first thing I hear is “Crosby is down there whining to the refs” “Oh god”. LMAO. Classic. Love it.

My worse nightmare: Walsh and Nash talking to each other and being shown on screen… at the same time. I miss Panger. :(

I fall in love with you, I’m nose over tail for you

October 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Coyotes are 2-0. OMG. They beat the Pittsburgh Penguins? Did I type that right? Not only did we beat them but we shut them out. Final score: 3-0.

It was a total penalty-fest for the Penguins. They could not catch the Coyotes and just kept committing penalty after penalty. Either that or we had the most whistle happy refs EVER who happen to dislike the defending Stanley Cup Champs. It could go either way really…

Goals: Jovo (OMG, I actually liked him for a second…), Pru (from his butt) and Vrbata (with the empty netter).

Jovo was up to his stupid tricks again. He took a stupid penalty. He already had Malk down, no need to add insult to injury like he did. Shame on you Jovo, shame on you. If you want to share some of your salary with me, I will refrain from the DamnJovos this season… maybe.

Bryz will be getting a lot of hot dogs after this game. He stopped all the shots. I bet that gets him a few extra hot dogs and maybe even some meatballs.

I will say the PK was much improved from the LA game. Thank you Tippett. You saw a weakness and you worked on it. That isn’t something I have seen a lot with this team. All Gretz would do is switch up the lines.

Speaking of lines. OMG, who knew that the Czechs would be so amazing? Ok… besides all of us. We knew Marty and Vrby had some chemistry previously but then you throw in Pru? Its like a Czech explosion on ice. Add Z and Jovo and you get Eddie and the Czechs (sung to Elton John’s Benny and the Jets – try it out loud, I know you want to). There is so many places we can go with all the Czechs.. you think the Pens liked the Czech Mix we fed them tonight? hah! OK, I am done with the Czech jokes now.

Of course Pittsburgh probably underestimated the Yotes. Keep it coming playas, we are ready for you and we are taking names and numbers! Brent Johnson was in goal for the Pens. You didn’t think we could have handled the MAF? Cuz I’m willing to bet we could. These boys have something to prove.

Next up: Coyotes at Sabres. Will the Sabres start Miller? Who is there back up this year anyway? Who do they even have on their team? Derek Roy? huh, I need to brush up on my Sabres apparently…

Oh and the Penguins travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers.

Both games start at 4 my time. I won’t get home until 5. Ugh. I hate the 3 hour difference. Hurry up and fall back already! I shall have the Coyotes on the tv and the Flyers on my laptop (hopefully). Now… which game do I listen to? It took all my energy to not hurl multiple items at the tv every time Tyson Nash spoke.
